Fallout 2 Hints
How can I get into Vault City?
of 12: You need to talk to the customs person just outside the main gate for information. Note that customs is only open during the day, so if the office is empty, leave the map grid, rest until morning, and come back.
of 12: There are several ways to get inside Vault Vity. All of them will work more or less equally -- at least, I didn't find any real difference between the options.
of 12: The simplest is to buy a Day Pass from the head customs person. But it's also the most expensive of your options.
of 12: Merchants are able to buy them.
of 12: Putting some gecko skins in your inventory as "proof" of your merchant status will be enough for the customs officer to let you buy a Day Pass.
of 12: You can also find a reason to talk to the First Citizen.
of 12: The customs officer suggests a task for you.
of 12: Try to find the raider base, and you'll get a free Day Pass to tell the First Citizen about it.
of 12: Or, you can be more dishonest about buying your way into Vault City.
of 12: Skeev -- the assistant in the customs facility -- will sell fake citizenship papers.
of 12: You can buy them for $200 -- which is cheaper than the $500 to buy a legitimate day pass.
of 12: Note, however, that these papers won't do much more than allow you through the front gate. You won't be able to claim citizenship status for the purpose of entering the city's Vault, for instance.
