Deal with the deathclaw.

  • 1 of 12: You will find the deathclaw Xarn in the underground section of the base.
  • 2 of 12: Xarn's locked up in a room to the south of the complex.
  • 3 of 12: Depending on whether you're sneaking or fighting your way into the base, your options here will vary slightly.
  • 4 of 12: In any case, Xarn would like his freedom.
  • 5 of 12: You need to find some way of getting him off this base.
  • 6 of 12: There's an underground exit to the very south of the map section.
  • 7 of 12: Which requires a blue key card.
  • 8 of 12: There is one in a desk nearby that you can try to take.  There was also one in the Gecko reactor, which will also work if you took it and thought to bring it along with you.
  • 9 of 12: You can open the air vent to get to the section near the gas station, and lead the deathclaw to freedom that way.
  • 10 of 12: You also can escort Xarn out another way if you're fighting your way through the base.
  • 11 of 12: Just take him with you and he'll help you fight the guards -- he doesn't even count toward your party size.  When you leave the base, he will leave your group.
  • 12 of 12: Note that Xarn does not heal when you rest your party.  This means that you'll need to use stimpacks or a healing skill (first aid or doctor) to heal him, if you don't want him killed during a fight.
