Fallout 2 Hints
What traits should I select?
1 of 3: As a general rule, most traits involve some kind of tradeoffs. Whether a trait is beneficial to you is primarily a matter of how your character is built and what you want to do. If your character is strong in one area and weak in another, you might want to pick a trait to balance out these effects. For example, Small Frame would be a disasterous trait if you have a low Strength (and thus default carrying weight). It might be a more reasonable choice if you have an above average or even high Strength, especially since you can hand items off to NPC's as long as you can carry essential armor, weapons, and ammunition. Or "Good Natured" might make sense if you wanted to play a diplomat, but not if you wanted to play a fighter.
2 of 3: One trait that is strongly worth considering is "Fast Shot". In many cases, the probability of targeted shots are so low that I think it's not worth making them. Only when you have high combat skills and are in otherwise favorable conditions (daylight, no restricted aim, target is close to you, etc.), will you have good chances of making a targeted shot anyway. Saving an action point on all your shots is probably worth the loss of targeted shots.
3 of 3: The only trait that I would strongly advise against is "Skilled" -- some perks are far more useful than the extra skill points. "Bruiser" is also probably a bad idea -- action points are hard enough to come by, that I would think it better to increase Strength some other way.
