Fallout 3 Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
Gauss Rifle
1 of 7: This special energy weapon is a bit similar to laser and plasma rifles, but is essentially different.
2 of 7: You can get it from a shelf in the armory, which you can only open after finishing the simulation.
3 of 7: The gauss rifle fires a bolt of energy that can knock enemies down when it scores critical hits, which it frequently does.
4 of 7: Do this to a nearby enemy who's using a gun, then quickly run up to him while the gauss rifle is reloading. As soon as you can, activate the enemy like a container and take his ammo. This will prevent him from using his gun after he gets back up.
5 of 7: As an alternative, you could switch to a melee weapon right after the gauss rifle is done reloading, then beat on your knocked-down foe before he can get back up. (This is most useful with fast and powerful melee enemies like giant radscorpions.)
6 of 7: This rifle also has a good sniper scope, though it's best used for close-range attacks due to the above tips.
7 of 7: NOTE: The only way to repair the gauss rifle is to pay someone to do it (or use alien epoxy from the Mothership Zeta add-on).
