Is there any way to keep the scavenger alive?
1 of 4: You can increase his odds of survival if you plan ahead.
2 of 4: Before you talk to Lepelletier, pick up Fawkes or another tough follower and visit the scavenger's shack.
3 of 4: Finish off any nearby hostiles, then have your follower wait near the shack.
4 of 4: Go talk to Lepelletier, then return to the shack to find that the battle is underway, with your follower helping out. This won't guarantee the scavenger's survival, but it will help.
