Fallout 3 Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
First-Time Equipment
1 of 7: In the circular center of the main core room, your companions will have a cowering alien captive surrounded. Wait as they argue about what to do with it, and Paulson solves the problem with his trusty sidearm. After they disperse, you can loot the alien for an item or two.
2 of 7: NOTE: If this encounter doesn't happen right away, reenter the area you cleared out (or another area), then go right back into the Engineering Core.
3 of 7: Check the tables at the north end of the main core room to find a hunting rifle and some frag-style explosives, then search the room to the north for items, including Talon combat armor, a bottlecap mine, and a couple of assault rifle clips (and a pulse grenade in a small wooden crate next to the clips).
4 of 7: There's also a toolbox next to an alien-style work bench that you can make custom weapons at (if you have the schematics and parts) by using the control that's below the bench.
5 of 7: Look near the airlock door for a metal box and a carton of cigarettes, then look a bit SW of that for a portion of alien food.
6 of 7: If you go down the stairs, you'll find a tray with alien squid food and a probably-empty footlocker, as well as some makeshift bedding behind the stairs that you can rest on.
7 of 7: If you have the Child at Heart perk, you can talk to Sally and get her to lead you to an otherwise-inaccessible room with three containers in it.
