Fallout 3 Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
Defeat the attacking alien ship.
1 of 8: As soon as you get this objective (or even before), check out the four interactive controls that are near the command chair.
2 of 8: The rightmost control obviously fires the death ray. Try pressing the three left controls to see what happens to the hologram above them.
3 of 8: The ship's available power has to be distributed among the shields and death ray. If one is set to be very strong, then the other is set to be very weak. (And the middle button is for an even distribution.)
4 of 8: It should be obvious that you want your shields to be getting most of the power when you take a hit, and you want the death ray to be getting most of the power when you're firing it.
5 of 8: So the thing to do is press the left power distribution button to maximize the shields and wait for the other ship to fire. Right after it does, press the right power distribution button, fire the death ray, then press the left power distribution button.
6 of 8: NOTE: Aliens will periodically beam in and assault the bridge, but your companions should be able to repel them without your help if they're all still alive. Be ready to heal yourself if you take too many hits, and stay crouched to avoid being seen if you have a cloaking device like a stealth boy active. (You might also want to set a few mines on and next to the teleporter ahead of time.)
7 of 8: Keep that up until your controls lose power and stop working, then quickly fix the problem. (Note that this may not happen, but it usually will.)
