Fallout 3 Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
How do I choose my gear package?
of 11: Access the requisition terminal in the command tent.
of 11: There are four different packages you can choose from: fire team, close assault, sniper, and heavy weapons.
of 11: You can click on a package's description line to learn what exact items go with that package.
of 11: Which one you choose should depend mostly on which of your weapon skills are highest. For instance, the sniper package is practically worthless if your Small Guns skill is really low.
of 11: When you think you know what you want, click on it, then close the terminal and leave the command tent. (Assuming you've already selected your strike team, too.)
of 11: Go around and check out the other tents, including the medical tent (talk to the doctor to get five psychos).
of 11: At the quartermaster's tent, quicksave before talking to the quartermaster. There's a tough Speech Challenge option that'll get you a gauss rifle if you pass it. Keep quickrestoring and trying again until you do.
of 11: After you get that, tell him you're ready for the gear package you chose in order to get it.
of 11: Then go into his tent and pick up all the loose items, and use the ammo dispenser to make sure you start out with a full load of ammo.
of 11: TIP: It is possible to get more than one gear package. Drop all of the weapons and ammo in your current package somewhere, use the command tent's requisition computer to choose a different package, talk to the quartermaster to receive the new package, and then pick up all the weapons and ammo from your old package.
of 11: TIP: You can build up your starting supply of missiles (which is one ammo type that ammo dispensers don't give any of) by getting the heavy weapons package, dropping the missiles you get, switching to another package, switching back to the heavy weapons package to get more missiles, and so on.
