Fallout 3 Hints

Old Olney

  • 1 of 9: This deathclaw-infested town is at location 2 on the Zone 3 Map.
  • 2 of 9: Enter the town through the large open part near its NE corner, then look on the ground for a large grating.
  • 3 of 9: Check your local area map for two entrances to the Olney Sewers area. The grating is directly above the northern of those two entrances. (You may not be able to see the other entrance on your map if you haven't explored the town yet.)
  • 4 of 9: You could get into the sewer by standing on the grating until it opens under you, then going through the door you land next to, but that's not the fastest way to get to the fat man.
  • 5 of 9: Instead, go straight south from the grating until you reach the boarded-over front door of a large building on your left, then turn right (west) and go down the street until you find a small alley on the left.
  • 6 of 9: Find the manhole in the alley and use it to enter the sewers.
  • 7 of 9: From the ladder, go forward and left to find a door. Go through it and another door, then explore the short tunnel to find two rooms.
  • 8 of 9: The first one just has a work bench and a few other things. The second one has a missile launcher on a bunk bed frame, the fat man you're after on the floor against the north wall, three safes in the north wall, a Nuka-Cola Quantum on the floor next to an ammo box, several other containers to loot, and some mattresses you can sleep on to heal after killing off all the nearby deathclaws.
  • 9 of 9: When you're ready to leave, go back to the ladder you entered by and use it to climb back up through the manhole.
