Fallout 3 Hints

Hatchery Tips

  • 1 of 9: First, stay on the walkway while fighting the mirelurks in the hatchery.
  • 2 of 9: Then notice that there's shallow radioactive water all over the floor. You can sip from it at any time to restore health, but you'll get irradiated at the same time.
  • 3 of 9: To start with, go to the top of the last set of stairs and jump over the railing so that you land on a big chunk of concrete next to some egg clutches and a gun case.
  • 4 of 9: Raid the gun case and clutches, then do the best you can to stay out of the water while using egg clutches to jump to the big concrete rubble pile in the room's SE corner.
  • 5 of 9: Open the nearby door and go through it, then quickly run and jump your way to the safe corner ahead. You should only take a little radiation on the way.
  • 6 of 9: In the room beyond the open doorway is a mirelurk (unless it's already heard you and come after you), plus some supplies. Be careful to stay out of the water while you get them.
  • 7 of 9: Return to the starting hatchery room and run/jump your way down the western passage to reach a small room with two gun cabinets along the south wall, a fountain to the right of the cabinets that does a little less radiation damage than the water on the floor, a first aid box on the wall near the fountain, and some lockers along the north wall (look for a conductor in a doorless locker space).
  • 8 of 9: Go through the door in the west wall and run along the passage to another door, collecting tin cans from the floor if you want them.
  • 9 of 9: After you go through the second door, quickly get onto the rubble that's above water level, then jump across to where a sloping tunnel leads up and out of the hatchery area.
