Fallout 3 Hints
Firelance
1 of 3: This unique alien blaster has the following advantage over the regular alien blaster: fire damage 2 points for 5 seconds. It also has the following disadvantages: 20% less damage, 60% less health, decreased critical damage. (If you have the Pyromaniac perk, Firelance will supposedly do 20% more damage than the alien blaster, but it'll still be a tiny bit weaker due to its decreased critical damage.)
2 of 3: It can only be gotten from a random wasteland encounter. (See the Set A unique encounter #8 in the Random Encounters hints.)
3 of 3: If you really want to get Firelance early in the game, you could quicksave next to Megaton (location 3 on the Zone 8 Map) and then go around to all the nearby Set A encounter areas to see if you get lucky. If not, quickrestore and try again. Or see the first Super-Duper Mart Tour hints for a way that might work a bit better.
