Fallout 3 Hints

Ranch House Tips

  • 1 of 8: Soon after you enter, a woman named Silver will talk to you about Moriarty.
  • 2 of 8: Whether you've already been to Megaton and talked to Moriarty or not, you'll have to deal with Silver now.
  • 3 of 8: To get the most caps out of this, pass the Speech Challenge that comes up. If you fail, exit conversation, restore the autosave that was made when you entered the house, and try it again.
  • 4 of 8: After that's done, there are a few items worth stealing inside the house, though note that you'll lose karma points for doing so. (The same goes for killing Silver.)
  • 5 of 8: In the kitchen area, there's an oven and a refrigerator to raid, plus an open-topped wooden crate on the counter that contains a bottle of purified water and an irradiated food item called "Dandy Boy Apples." (To get at those items, you can use Grab mode to dump them out of the box, or jump onto the counter so you can look down into the box.)
  • 6 of 8: Near the kitchen is a garbage can next to some wooden shelves. The most noteworthy items on the shelves are the first aid box, the rad-x that's hiding behind two tin cans, the two boxes of instamash, the can of pork n' beans, and the lead pipe (a melee weapon). There are also a few weapon-crafting components: the two cans of turpentine, the tin cans, and the three boxes of abraxo cleaner.
  • 7 of 8: In the other room, there's a cabinet and toolbox to search, three boxes of .32 caliber ammo on the floor near the cabinet, a can of turpentine and a psycho chem on the cabinet with the radio, and a carton of cigarettes and a jet chem on the small wall shelf.
  • 8 of 8: You can also try to pickpocket some psycho and .32 caliber ammo from Silver, but be sure to quicksave first.
