Release Notes
This is release 6 of the Fallout 3 hint file. It includes the following changes to the fifth release (10/21/09):
* Several improvements made to the Ultimate Playthru Tips in the Character Development Tips
* Added a way to make ESP files visible to the game launcher under Windows 7 to the info on changing the max character level
* Added a new combat tip about how V.A.T.S. lets you attack with melee weapons from a distance
* Added notes to the Followers List about Dogmeat and Sergeant RL-3 also having mega hit points if Broken Steel is installed
* Put a note in the Merchant Lists about being able to pickpocket back money you pay for repairs
* Added notes to the Unique Equipment lists about how Dogmeat can get the Victory Rifle and Smuggler's End weapons for you
* Added tips for "giving" the traveling traders items to help keep them alive
* Added a post-quest note to the misc. quest "Head of State"
* Added "The Infinite Joke" to the Zone 4 undocumented quests
* Added info on a third shed key to the Zone 8 undocumented quest "Strange Town, Strange Meat"
* Expanded the pickpocketing notes in the Zone 8 undocumented quest "The Technology Trade"
* More minor corrections and additions
Release 5 included the following changes to the fourth release (5/14/09):
* More information given in the Character Development Tips on leveling up past level 20
* A couple of new items added to the unique equipment lists, plus a "reverse pickpocket" way to steal some equipped items
* Put tips in the unique Alien Blaster weapon info for getting it if you have the Mothership Zeta add-on installed
* Updated info on the unique Firelance weapon to more accurately state that it's still not quite as powerful as the regular alien blaster even with the Pyromaniac perk
* Added a way to make edited game settings permanent to the PC Cheat Codes section
* Added tips for getting onto the upper walkway of the Enclave soldiers' big room in the Taft Tunnel area to the main quest "The Waters of Life"
* Put tips in the misc. quest "The Superhuman Gambit" for getting both unique reward items
* Added angle-bracketed notes for special items like bobbleheads and skill books to all locations in the annotated map keys
* Added tips and info regarding the five game add-ons in various places
* The usual bunch of minor corrections and additions
Release 4 included the following changes to the third release (2/8/09):
* Added complete list of all perks and comments on each, plus an "ultimate" character build, in Character Development Tips
* Put list of all rentable beds in Exploration Tips
* Added question about exact effects of difficulty setting
* Added lists of all merchants and potential followers
* Finished unique equipment list, and added specific advantage info to all unique weapons
* Improved hints on getting several of the unique weapons, including Miss Launcher, the Tenderizer, the Kneecapper, the Terrible Shotgun, and the Wazer Wifle
* Added info to the custom weapon list about related skills and special features
* Added list of optional things to do in the Citadel in the main quest "Picking Up the Trail"
* Added post-quest notes in the Tenpenny Tower misc. quest
* Simplified the hints for getting the bonus on the mirelurk-studying part of the misc. quest "The Wasteland Survival Guide"
* Added list of nonrandom Chinese assault rifles to Zone 2's "Pronto's Inventory Problems" undocumented quest
* Finished guided tours for Zone 9 underground metro areas and interior regions
* Added list of pre-war books to Zone 9's "The Book Collector" undocumented quest
* Added Zone 9 undocumented quests "The Lost Initiate" and "The Suicidal Senior"
* Made many minor additions and corrections
Release 3 included the following changes to the second release (12/14/08):
* Secondary locations and Enclave camps added to all zone maps
* Finished teleportation coords lists in the PC Cheat Codes section
* Bobblehead list completed
* Skill book lists completed
* Custom weapon schematic locations all filled in, plus all work bench locations and places that have highest concentrations of component items
* Lists for fat man weapons, mini nukes, stealth boys, unique equipment, and random encounters added
* Questions for character movement speed and karma added
* Finished Nuka-Cola Quantum list in "The Nuka-Cola Challenge" misc. quest
* Added several new tips and options to most misc. quests
* Several undocumented quests added to zone hint sections
* Tip about hollowed-out rock added to Zone 8's Megaton Tour
The second release included the following changes to the original release of 11/27/08:
* Added new general tips sections for character development, looting, stealing, traps, skill books, traveling merchants, and an early development strategy
* Put in more general exploration tips
* Put in a general question about how to get a house
* Filled in some bobblehead and custom weapon schematic info
* Finished all misc. quest hints
* Did a few other spiff-ups and additions
