Fallout 3 Hints

The Surgeon's Lab Coat

  • 1 of 12: This unique lab coat has the following properties: damage resistance +1, Medicine +10, Science +5.
  • 2 of 12: It's being worn by the Surgeon, who's inside the Red Racer Factory (location 7 on the Zone 8 Map).
  • 3 of 12: Enter the Factory Floor area, then go through one of the entry room's two northern doors to reach a large factory room.
  • 4 of 12: Turn left and go to a path intersection, then turn right and back left again just past that to reach another large factory room.
  • 5 of 12: Continue along the pathway to reach a third large factory room, and go up its stairs to an upper passage.
  • 6 of 12: Right after entering the upper passage, turn right and move along to the upper walkway of a large room, then make your way over to the door that leads to the CEO Offices area.
  • 7 of 12: In the office area's first hallway, go through the north doorway to find a locked terminal.
  • 8 of 12: If you can hack into it, you can disable all the chips that the Surgeon has implanted in the factory's ghouls and super mutants, thereby causing all of their heads to explode. (Note that this robs you of the XP of killing them yourself.)
  • 9 of 12: Go through the door at the west end of the hallway to reach a large room. Go up its stairs and through its west upper-floor door to reach the Surgeon's room.
  • 10 of 12: Stay near the door and snipe at her, avoiding the missiles she launches at you, until she eventually charges you. You should then be able to take her down easily.
  • 11 of 12: However, she'll probably have unlocked the cell that contains a "glowing one" ghoul named Stefan, so you'll have to take him down, too.
  • 12 of 12: Search the Surgeon's body to find her unique lab coat.
