Fallout 3 Hints

Butch

  • 1 of 7: You meet Butch early in the game, but he can't be a follower until much later.
  • 2 of 7: You need to finish the "Trouble on the Homefront" misc. quest in such a way that Butch can leave the vault.
  • 3 of 7: You do that by helping Amata's rebels win the conflict or by sabotaging the vault so everyone has to evacuate.
  • 4 of 7: Later on, you'll find Butch at the Muddy Rudder bar in Rivet City (location 64 on the Zone 9 Map).
  • 5 of 7: When you talk to him about his new gang, he'll join you as a follower if your karma is in the neutral range.
  • 6 of 7: He has 235 hit points, a 10mm pistol and a switchblade, and is best with small guns. When you fire him, he returns to the Muddy Rudder bar.
  • 7 of 7: NOTES: You can take his unique "Butch's Toothpick" switchblade from him, and he'll still have one to use. However, don't take his 10mm pistol if you want him to have an unlimited-ammo ranged weapon. (You can take all but one of his 10mm rounds, though.) You can also ask him for a haircut at any time.
