Fallout 3 Hints
The terminal is locked, and won't let me enter the password I got.
1 of 12: It seems that you'll need a special security password, not just the Family's terminal password.
2 of 12: Return to Vance and speak to him again after quicksaving.
3 of 12: Ask him about Ian West, then tell him about the letter you have for him.
4 of 12: You'll eventually get a Speech Challenge that you can try. If you fail, quickrestore and try again.
5 of 12: If you give up on that, you'll have to go around and talk to other Family members.
6 of 12: Ask them all about Ian West to see if you can get any more Speech Challenges or attribute-related options.
7 of 12: If not, you'll have to talk to them about understanding their laws.
8 of 12: Talk to Justin, Brianna, Holly, Alan, and Karl about their laws to hear about each one.
9 of 12: Or use the terminal that's near the work bench on the mezzanine's lower floor to read about all five laws.
10 of 12: Either way, return to Vance and say that you finally understand what his people are.
11 of 12: Say that they're vampires, then keep talking until you get a chance to ask to see Ian West.
12 of 12: That'll get you the security password, and you can now go use the locked terminal.
