Rotunda Combat Tips

  • 1 of 9: Go through the rotunda doors in Sneak mode, looking to the right for the nearest frag mines.
  • 2 of 9: You'll want to disarm and pick up all the frag mines that are nearby, then reset them so that the super mutants will trigger them when they come in.
  • 3 of 9: If you carefully search both sides of the south half of the rotunda, you'll be able to recover 16 frag mines and one pulse mine.
  • 4 of 9: If you're very careful, you can grab three more frag mines from near Sydney's sandbag wall without triggering the super mutant attack, which starts when you go past the sandbag wall on either side (no matter how far away from it you are).
  • 5 of 9: Once you've recovered all the mines you can without triggering the attack, go lay some of them in and around the rotunda doorway, plus a few more along the path to Sydney's sandbag wall.
  • 6 of 9: You might also want to put some behind the two wooden bookshelves, since mutants might try to use those as cover.
  • 7 of 9: After quicksaving, go past Sydney's sandbag wall to start the attack, then take cover behind the nearest wooden bookshelf and fire on super mutants from there.
  • 8 of 9: The main danger is the mutant in the second attack wave that has the heavy weapon (usually a missile launcher or minigun). Try to target his arms to hamper his ability to use his weapon, and dodge his fire whenever you can.
  • 9 of 9: You need Sydney to survive this combat, so quickrestore and try again if she gets killed. (Note, however, that it might be a good thing for you if she takes heavy damage.)
