1 of 2: If Sydney hasn't gotten killed yet, you may want to take her somewhere (such as another Mall location) and let her get killed in combat so you can take her unique gun.
2 of 2: Or if you can wait, and are willing to go to a bit of extra trouble, you can get her gun after the quest is over without getting her killed.
