Fallout 3 Hints
Investigate the nearby town of Megaton for information about Dad.
of 10: Check your Pip-Boy's world map to see that Megaton is a short way SE of where you exited Vault 101.
of 10: NOTE: If it's night when you exit the vault, you may want to hit the Wait key and choose to wait enough hours for it to get light again.
of 10: If you head straight to Megaton, you should have an uneventful trip, with at most a bloatfly or two to fight.
of 10: As you approach Megaton's north end, a robot named Deputy Weld will greet you as some large barricade items are raised out of your way.
of 10: Go past the raised barricade to find a gate you can use to enter the settlement.
of 10: After Lucas Simms greets you, ask him about your father.
of 10: He says he can't help you, and that you should ask around to see if anyone else can.
of 10: You could do that, or you could get the "The Power of the Atom" misc. quest from him, then ask about your father again. He'll be more cooperative then.
of 10: TIP: Also ask him what he knows about the area outside Megaton to get Rivet City marked on your world map.
of 10: If you don't get Simms to refer you to Moriarty's Saloon, talk to other people in town until someone else does.
