Fallout 3 Hints
Can I do this if I have Mothership Zeta installed?
1 of 5: If you have the Mothership Zeta game add-on installed, you won't be able to approach the crashed UFO without being beamed up to the mothership. (Unless you've already finished the Mothership Zeta quests.)
2 of 5: You could try getting close to the UFO and tossing grenades down at it, hoping the explosions will throw the alien blaster and ammo cells out to where you can get them.
3 of 5: A much better way would be to go get Dogmeat (see the Followers List), then visit the crash site. Stay back so the mothership's teleporter won't get you, then tell Dogmeat to find you a weapon.
4 of 5: After he brings you the alien blaster, have him hunt for ammo until all of the alien power cell packs have been fetched.
5 of 5: NOTE: The best place to stand while doing this is directly south of the UFO. That way, Dogmeat won't have to navigate any rocky terrain while running back and forth between you and the UFO. (If you don't have any radaway with you, you might want to go farther south until you're out of the crash site's radiation zone.)
