Fallout 3 Hints
Evacuate the Vault.
of 8: Return to the door to the lower level, where you'll meet up with the Overseer.
of 8: If it's Mack, you'll have to kill him. Otherwise, you may be able to talk your way out of a fight.
of 8: Either way, go through the door to the lower level, then use the stairs to get up to the nearby door to the Vault 101 Atrium/Upper Level area.
of 8: You'll end up near the Overseer's office. Turn and run the other way until you make it back to the lower-floor area where you met Officer Taylor before.
of 8: Go through the door that leads to the Vault 101 Entrance area, then head east to reach the room with the vault's big entry door.
of 8: You'll encounter Amata there. You can try to pass a Speech Challenge to make her believe that the Overseer caused the evac alarm, but it doesn't really matter whether you succeed -- it's just good for some extra XP.
of 8: Follow her to the small door that leads outside, where the quest will be counted as completed.
of 8: NOTE: The big vault entry door doesn't ever close, so you could come back at any time and raid the vault for things you missed before.
