F.E.A.R. Extraction Point Hints
Replica Combat Tips
of 15: You need to make it back down the stairs before the Replicas arrive.
of 15: The only way to do that is to holster your weapon, open the door that leads out of the control room, hit the blue "activate" panel, and then run through the door and down the stairs as fast as you can.
of 15: If you make it unshot, save your game and then peek around the corner past the stairs to find some targets to SlowMo-shoot.
of 15: As soon as you kill one or two Replicas, retreat back to the top of the stairs and watch for some to appear at the bottom of the stairs.
of 15: You may run out of SlowMo time before they stop coming, even if you use the minigun to finish them off quickly.
of 15: If so, start tossing some frag grenades down the stairs. (Or do that before you run out of SlowMo to help even more.)
of 15: Another way is to make your quick run out the control room door and take cover in the corner to the right instead of going for the stairs. You'll be able to crouch in the corner and not be seen from the floor below.
of 15: You can then repeatedly turn SlowMo on, stand up and shoot a Replica you see down below for a couple of seconds, crouch back down, and turn SlowMo off. If you're careful, you won't get shot while doing this. (Quicksaving, checking where the Replicas are, and then quickrestoring and using that knowledge can help with this.)
of 15: Or better yet, plan ahead and set up some deployable turrets before you use the blue "activate" panel in the control room.
of 15: There are lots of places where you could set up two deployable turrets to help cover you and each other.
of 15: One deployment that I found very useful was to have one turret in each of the two corners of the tiled floor section that's just past the carpet at the bottom of the stairs.
of 15: NOTE: It might work better to have the turrets stick to the wall just above those corners instead of them being on the floor. The Replicas may have a harder time destroying them that way.
of 15: With that setup, you can wait in the safety of the control room to see how many Replicas your turrets can kill for you, then sneak out and down the stairs to finish off the rest.
of 15: Or you can combine that turret placement with the above strategy of shooting Replicas in the room below from the corner that's to the right as you leave the control room. That way you'll be hitting them hard from two different directions.
of 15: If you're willing to use more than two turrets and/or some prox grenades and remote bombs, you could set up all kinds of different traps for the Replicas to stumble into. If the above tips don't work too well for you, experiment to see what does.
