F.E.A.R. Extraction Point Hints
What is this thing and how can I destroy it?
1 of 11: It's one of this expansion game's nifty new toys: the AP-5 deployable turret. It's F.E.A.R.'s version of Half-Life 2's hopper mines.
2 of 11: See page 7 of the PDF game manual to learn a bit about how the turrets work.
3 of 11: It appears that this turret was deployed by a Replica, since it's acquiring you as a target.
4 of 11: As with the other types of turrets in the main game, you need to shoot this one until it blows up, preferably without letting it get in any return shots.
5 of 11: One way to do that is to skip the room past the door for now and jump up and down from behind the furniture barricade, shooting at the turret at the top of your jump.
6 of 11: You'll waste a lot of ammo this way (even if you use the pistols or penetrator), but it can be done safely as long as you don't jump when the turret is firing.
7 of 11: A more ammo-conservative way is to shoot the turret through the large window in the room.
8 of 11: Open the door to the room without letting the turret see you through the door's window, then run across the room and take cover in the corner to the right of the big window.
9 of 11: After quicksaving, turn on SlowMo and strafe to where you can shoot the turret through the window.
10 of 11: Strafe back out of its sight and cancel SlowMo when it starts shooting back.
11 of 11: TIP: If you wait until it whirs around and faces another direction, it should be easy to destroy it in one SlowMo barrage before it can target you, especially if you're using the shotgun.
