General Tips
1 of 11: This first tip is for PC gamers only: Since F.E.A.R. 2 never lets you save your game, and its periodic checkpoint saves always overwrite each other, you should occasionally make copies of the checkpoint save file, and keep written notes of where you are in each save copy. That way, you can go back to one of those saves by copying it over the current checkpoint save file. You'll find that file in your My Documents folder, at the end of a big long directory path that starts with WBGames\FEAR2.
2 of 11: One of the most commonly used strategies for this kind of game is to quickly and recklessly run through a new, unexplored area right after getting a checkpoint save, then restore the save and approach the same area with your new knowledge of its layout and where all the enemies are hiding. This allows you to minimize injuries and ammo consumption while clearing out the area (or just running through it if that turns out to work).
3 of 11: Jumping can be used to get across some fairly wide gaps as long as you get a running start, since that allows your jump to go a little farther. If you're wanting to jump up onto a crate or something like that, you don't need a running start -- instead, press the Jump key while moving up against the item.
4 of 11: You should always be on the lookout for small, low-down spaces and passageways that you can enter if you crouch while walking into them. Many areas require you to crouch-walk through a ventilation shaft or something similar to get to the next area.
5 of 11: Another thing the game will sometimes do is have a large item like a desk or crate leaning across a door or passageway that you need to go down. When this is the case, you can lift the leaning item out of the way by walking up to it and holding down the Use key for several seconds.
6 of 11: When climbing a ladder, you can turn your flashlight on and off, but can't use a weapon. Due to this, you'll want to only climb ladders when there are no enemies nearby who can see you. If you ever need to drop down off a ladder quickly, use the Jump key (and watch out that you don't take damage from falling too far).
7 of 11: Always look around for interactive items, especially in a room that appears to be a dead end. There are often doors you can open, control panels and wall switches you can use, etc. When you're facing an interactive item and are standing close enough to it, some text will appear on-screen, and you can press the Use key to use the item.
8 of 11: You can use your flashlight to help you see in dim and dark areas, allowing you to spot interactive items and supplies you otherwise might have missed. However, be careful about using the flashlight in a dark area with enemies nearby -- they're smart enough to know that flashlights don't move around on their own.
9 of 11: Whenever you can't pick up a medkit or weapon because your inventory is full, try to remember where it is so you can come back later on when you need it. Or just remember to search through areas you've already been through whenever you're low on something.
10 of 11: When a checkpoint save is made, there is a trick you can use to fully restore your health (but not armor). Return to the game's main menu, then choose "Continue From Last Saved Point" to reload the checkpoint save. You should find that your health is fully restored. (Note that this may be a glitch that only happens in v1.01 of the PC version of the game.)
11 of 11: On a similar note, both your health and armor are completely restored whenever you start a new mission. This means that if you're near the end of a mission, you don't have to go to a lot of trouble to avoid getting injured in combat or hunt down healing items.
