Inventory
A "hand" icon appears when you can pick up an object. Picking up an object puts it immediately into inventory. To learn what you picked up, go into your inventory. (The inventory window can be found by moving your mouse cursor to the right edge of your monitor's screen and pausing a moment.)
To look at an item more closely, click on the magnifying glass and drag it to the object.
To use an object from inventory, click and drag it into the middle of the gameplay screen.
