Some notes about the plaque images...
The red dots give an indication of where the feet of the spheres should be positioned, not of the actual position of the spheres on the display. It is however not that difficult to position them right, since the game is rather flexible.
When you think they are correctly aligned and the game engine doesn't think so, just shift them a little further by double-clicking the wheel. Then, pull the lever. As already mentioned, you should hear an opening sound if everything worked out fine.
If you are sure you aligned the planets correct and nothing happens, double-check the little doors on the machine front panel.
