I keep dying of Cholera!

  • 1 of 5: There are certain items that you need from Brooklyn before you reach California.  If you leave Brooklyn without them, the game can no longer be completed.  If you've forgotten one of these items, you will die of cholera.  If, when you left Brooklyn, you got the message: "You must have missed something!" then you're sure to get the cholera.  Or, if when you die, you are informed that you must have missed something, then this is the case.  Restore to Brooklyn and see:
  • 2 of 5: If you've already left the camp, and you die of cholera on the road, then you forgot something in the camp.
  • 3 of 5: Talk to everyone in the camp.
  • 4 of 5: It's also sometimes just bad luck.
  • 5 of 5: Every time you leave Brooklyn, there is a chance you will catch cholera, and the only thing to be done is to restore back to a point in Brooklyn.  This is the case when you die and the message says "There's nothing you can do." Sometimes the frontier life just isn't fair.  Save before you give your ticket to the livery man.
