2 of 8: The mine is difficult to navigate. Save often, since some holes will surprise you.
3 of 8: You need to keep searching the mine until you find something.
4 of 8: A pickaxe, specifically.
5 of 8: You're also looking for a mineshaft that is tough to see.
6 of 8: It's off to the left of the ladder you climbed to find the pick.
7 of 8: If you keep looking, you'll get a message saying there is a mine shaft to your left.
8 of 8: It's tricky, but find your way onto the shaft and follow it.
