Gothic 3 Hints
Kill the shy deer.
1 of 9: To get this mission, find Chris at his camp in the circle of standing stones that's a ways directly NW of Ardea and ask him to teach you about hunting.
2 of 9: To find the so-called "shy deer," look NE from the standing stone area, toward Vengard.
3 of 9: You'll have to keep your distance from the deer and use your bow to shoot them.
4 of 9: When they start running around frantically, it's best to stay put until they calm down and wander back into range. You don't want to chase them and get too close to all those battle-hungry orcs near Vengard.
5 of 9: Also, use flame arrows for one-shot kills if you don't have the Game Hunter skill or a powerful bow yet.
6 of 9: If the deer seem to vanish after you kill two or three, go look for them a short ways directly north of Ardea. (I often found them in the area near a bandit camp.)
7 of 9: You'll know when you get the last one because you'll get 250 XP and Hunting Skill +1 when it dies.
8 of 9: Be sure to get the raw meat from the shy deer carcasses (or some other dead animal that gives raw meat), since Chris will ask for five portions of it.
9 of 9: Hand over the raw meat to get 250 XP and the option to buy hunting-related training from Chris.
