Gothic 3 Hints

What are the six global reputation values for, and how can I increase them?

  • 1 of 9: The rep values being referred to are the ones you can see listed underneath the map on the mission screen. (See page 22 of the game manual.)
  • 2 of 9: The only way to increase those rep numbers is to do missions that those factions want you to do. For instance, the rebels like it when you help them supply their people and liberate cities from orc occupation. The orcs, on the other hand, like it when you promote their interests and wipe out rebel camps.
  • 3 of 9: Thankfully, rep values can never decrease, so if you do a mission that increases your rep with the rebels, you don't have to worry about your rep with the orcs going down.
  • 4 of 9: There are two reasons to want a high rep with a faction: to buy faction-related armor, and to gain access to special restricted areas.
  • 5 of 9: Most factions have special suits of armor that various faction members sell. For instance, many rebel merchants sell paladin armor, which is nearly the best armor in the game. However, you can't buy it unless your global rep with the rebel faction is at least 50.
  • 6 of 9: As for the special restricted areas, there are very few. Most restricted areas relate to your local rep. For instance, in Cape Dun, you can't get in to see Uruk until your Cape Dun rep is 75 points or more. It doesn't matter what your global rep with the orcs is.
  • 7 of 9: In fact, there are only two areas that are restricted according to global rep. Read on if you want to know what they are.
  • 8 of 9: You need a Hashishin rep of 75 points or more to get into the city of Ishtar in Varant, and you need an Orc rep of 75 points or more to get into Kan's area in Faring's castle.
  • 9 of 9: So for factions other than the orcs and the Hashishin, the only reason you'd ever care about your rep level is if you're wanting to buy some of their armor.
