Escort Tips
of 6: Whenever you're escorting someone somewhere (or he's escorting you), he can often be killed by wild creatures and such along the way. If this happens, restore a save and go kill off those wild creatures before starting the escort mission. In some cases, you may end up having to make the entire journey by yourself just to clear the way so your companion can make it.
of 6: Your companion usually won't attack any enemies you meet along the way unless either the enemies manage to hit you or him, or you start attacking the enemies. If neither of those things happens, you can often just run on past them and keep going, leaving them behind. (This is especially useful when someone is leading you somewhere.)
of 6: You can instantly restore the hit points of everyone around you by quicksaving and then quickrestoring the game. This can be a useful thing to do after every combat so that your companion is fully healed for the next combat.
of 6: Also, if your companion is about to die, you can knock him out yourself with melee attacks to save his life. He'll just be unconscious for awhile, and hopefully you can kill off any remaining enemies in the area before he wakes up. (Then use the previous tip to bring him back to full health.) Note that this doesn't work with people who are following you around since the game makes it impossible for you to damage them (except with area-effect spells).
of 6: When someone is leading you somewhere, they'll often glitchily run right through a wall or mountain. If that happens and they don't emerge soon, you can use the PC Cheat Codes' "goto" command to go to that person, which may help you continue the mission.
of 6: Another thing that someone who's leading you might do is get stuck in a loop, running back and forth uselessly in one small area, instead of continuing on toward your goal. When this happens, try quicksaving and then quickrestoring your game. If that doesn't work, lead a hostile creature or two over to your confused leader so he'll get caught up in the fight. If you don't let him die, he might resume the journey after the fight is over. (This is especially likely if the creatures manage to draw him away from his "stuck spot" during the fight.)
