Bring pickaxes to Vandorn for the castle.
1 of 5: To get this mission, talk to Vandorn in the castle courtyard.
2 of 5: He needs 22 pickaxes, which is undoubtedly many more than you normally keep in stock.
3 of 5: Fortunately, you can find pickaxes lying around in most mines, and you can buy them from most general goods merchants (including Abe and Vandorn here in the castle).
4 of 5: Also, you can beat up slaves who are working in mines (like the ones in and around Geldern) to get pickaxes. You can even quicksave and then quickrestore after looting them in order to get their tools to respawn.
5 of 5: When you have 22 pickaxes, give them to Vandorn to get 712 gold, 1500 XP, five Vengard rep points, and Smithing +1.
