Gothic 3 Hints

Follow Merdarion.

  • 1 of 11: You get this mission at the same time you get "Eliminate the commanders of the undead in the fields of ruins."
  • 2 of 11: WARNING: During the following process, Merdarion can sometimes get stuck or walk into walls and vanish. Save frequently and restore whenever you need to in order to fix this. (Also note that the PC console command "goto Merdarion" might help in some cases.)
  • 3 of 11: TIP: It would really help now if you had gone around the ruins areas SW of Mora Sul and cleared out creatures like sandcrawlers before opening the temple. If not, you're in for a lot of extra trouble now.
  • 4 of 11: When you reach a large group of undead, kill them all off.
  • 5 of 11: To keep Merdarion alive and healthy, let him freeze a zombie or two with a spell, then get all the others to follow you away from him so you can take them down without him getting hurt.
  • 6 of 11: After all of the undead, including the undead commander, are down, talk to Merdarion to get 1000 XP and five Nomad rep points.
  • 7 of 11: That finishes this mission and immediately starts another one with the exact same name (with the new objective being to get to the second undead commander).
  • 8 of 11: After the second commander is down, repeat the process of talking to Merdarion and following him to the next commander. (Note that you get the same XP and rep point reward each time.)
  • 9 of 11: When the fourth and last undead commander dies, you'll get 1500 XP, five Nomad rep points, and Ancient Knowledge +1.
  • 10 of 11: Talk to Merdarion again to get the usual reward for the undead commander's death, plus five healing potions and five mana potions as a final reward for finishing them all off.
  • 11 of 11: NOTE: The final undead commander battle is in the fat man's tent area near the temple, and Merdarion is automatically hostile to ol' fatso and the orcs. If you want to keep him alive long enough to get your final reward, you'll probably have to help him fight them.
