Gothic 3 Hints

Kill the cattle in the stockyard.

  • 1 of 11: Talk to Mason at his little rebel camp a ways north of the stockyard to get this mission.
  • 2 of 11: There are a whole lot of things wrong with this mission, starting with the fact that it's really hard to attack the dairy cows without everyone in the stockyard turning hostile.
  • 3 of 11: Also, Mason and/or another rebel will often follow along and start attacking either you or the guys at the stockyard.
  • 4 of 11: Add to that the fact that all the cows start running away the instant you hit one of them (and sometimes never come back), and you've got a real mess.
  • 5 of 11: One thing you can try is to "fringe-shoot" the cows. Get as far away from the cow you're targeting as you can, preferably in a spot outside the stockyard where no one can see you, then shoot the cow with arrows or spells. Follow it as it runs away, then finish it off when it's safe to do so.
  • 6 of 11: Powerful one-shot kills would be very helpful, but very difficult unless you're a powerful magic or bow user. However, if you can do it, you won't need to do any fringe-shooting -- just walk up to a cow and one-shot kill it, and no one will pay any attention.
  • 7 of 11: If that doesn't work, sneakily shoot down the two cows at the south end of the stockyard (they're easy to fringe-shoot), then go in and quickly slash the others to death, dodging the angry mercenaries and slaves as you go.
  • 8 of 11: Or you can sleep until midnight somewhere, then use the Sleep spell on some of the stockyard guards before attacking the cows near them.
  • 9 of 11: If you manage to kill all seven of the dairy cows, you'll get 750 XP and a Rebel rep point.
  • 10 of 11: Report back to Mason to get 400 gold and 500 XP.
  • 11 of 11: NOTE: If you got all the stockyard people mad at you, stay away for awhile -- everyone should calm down and no longer attack you when you return.
