Gothic 3 Hints

Ardea Notes

  • 1 of 5: You can get a world map from the body of the blue-clad orc that's called "Boss." Check it in the Documents menu whenever you want to know where you are on the map and which direction you're facing. (The badly done compass at the bottom left corner of the screen can often be confusing.)
  • 2 of 5: Among the other things on Hamlar's table near the NW exit, you'll find a teleporter stone that can be used to teleport you straight to Ardea from anywhere else. All towns have teleporter stones, and it's a good idea to start collecting them right away.
  • 3 of 5: There are some water barrels scattered about town that you can sip from to restore some life energy, and there are some beds in buildings that you can sleep on to restore life energy and/or make time pass. Look for these items in every other town you visit, too.
  • 4 of 5: After you finish the "Talk to the leader of the rebels!" mission, return to Ardea and find the rebel who's running the smithy now. Quicksave before you talk to him, then check his store inventory to see if he has a flame sword. If not, quickrestore and try again until he does. The flame sword does a lot of damage (100 points), and it only costs 1000 gold and requires a Strength of 120. That's a lot better than you'll be getting for quite awhile, so be sure to buy it and use it. (See Norris in Reddock if you need to buy Strength increases.)
  • 5 of 5: There's a cave at beach level just east of Ardea that's full of goblins, with a couple of ogres in back. The deal with them is that they won't rush to attack you if you keep your distance -- you can safely shoot them all down with arrows, providing you have enough. There's some treasure in the back of the cave, plus plenty of plants and meatbugs to harvest. (Unfortunately, the lizard cave a ways to the north doesn't work the same way.)
