Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Hints
Special Free Equipment List
Listed below are some of the many locations where you can find powerful nonrandom equipment, free for the taking.
* Ardea: There's a suit of Elite Spy Armor in the chest next to the stone circle that's a ways NW of town.
* Ardea: A ways west of the stone circle is a large cave with several chests in it. They contain a Staff of Power (grants Mana Regeneration at the low Ancient Knowledge requirement of 170), the three-piece Praetor armor set, the Straight Scimitar, a Berserker Axe, and much more. (Watch out for the shadowbeasts and undead high priest.)
* Ardea: A ways north of the stone circle is another cave. One of the chests in it contains a Headsman's Sword and a Staff of Fire (grants Fire Mage at the low Ancient Knowledge requirement of 50).
* Faring: In Khalif's shop in the village, you can take lots of magic weapons from the weapon racks, including swords called Rider's Blade and Heartstopper.
* Faring: Rollan's chest just outside of town has a Power of the Ancestors sword in it. You can get the chest's keys by doing the Gotha misc. mission "Hunter tells player to kill the Beast," or you can open it without the keys if you can pick difficult locks or have an Open Locks scroll.
* Geldern: There's a powerful shield called Dreamcatcher on the table in the first room of the mine that's NE of town.
* Geldern: A mage's staff that gives the Dark Mage skill when equipped can be found at the end of one of the tunnels in the back of the mine that starts a ways east of the south gate.
* Gotha: In Gorn's room in the castle, there's a chest with Nordmarian armor in it, plus a Rider's Blade sword. There's another Rider's Blade on a nearby weapon rack, along with a magic spear called Nightshocker.
* Gotha: Find Rollan in his small enclosed camp a bit west of Gotha, then enter the nearby cave. Move forward until you reach the main cave area, then turn right and go past a skeleton to find a Summoner's Chest that contains a powerful nameless magic sword and some high-quality armor called Rhobar's Armor. There's also a unique shield called Gnawstopper in a chest near the base of that side area.
* Kapdun: Go out the town's NE exit and follow the road as it winds around to the north until you find Martel's hunter camp. Look on the other side of the road for a cave with some bloodflies in it. All three of the chests in that cave contain staffs that give the Water Mage skill when wielded. One of those chests also contains a Dark Mage staff and the mighty Wrath of Innos sword, which gives its wielder the Paladin skill. Other chests in farther-back cave rooms contain another Wrath of Innos sword plus Fire Mage and Water Mage staffs, some of which also grant Mana Regeneration. You can get another Wrath of Innos sword by doing Martel's mission and searching the dead orcs.
* Montera: Theo's chest in the castle contains several powerful weapons, including a Power of the Ancestors sword. See the KapDun misc. mission "Player ready to save Orc from orc leader" for all the details, but note that you can open the chest without doing the mission if you can pick difficult locks or have an Open Locks scroll.
* Montera: Go down the road that leads almost straight south from Montera until you reach a camp of "shaman's orcs." Enter the nearby cave and look for a Nordmarian Tower Shield and a Nordmarian Plated Chain Helm on the floor. They'll go nicely with the Nordmarian armor that can be gotten in Gotha.
* Montera: Orontius' chest in a cave a ways west of town contains a powerful nameless sword plus some other magic weapons, but is guarded by a black troll. To find the cave, head SW along the road that leads away from town until you get near some tall stone ruins. Go through the ruins and over to a wooden watchtower, then head NW and follow the glowing crystals. (Note that you can get the chest's key if you side with Thorus on the main missions and help Orontius' family out.)
* Reddock: You can get the Ring of Adanos from a chest in the small side cave with an alchemist's bench. It'll add 50 to your life energy when worn.
* Trelis: A powerful axe called Double Decker and a black steel helmet can be found in a chest in the orc-guarded room in the cave that's underneath the fancy temple building on the west side of the orc compound. (Look behind the temple's altar for the stairs that lead down to the cave.)
* Trelis: A very powerful sword called Heart of Cold and a heavy axe called Havoc are in a chest in the small minecrawler cave that's just north of the big temple that's east of Trelis. (It's the cave that the Mystic Wanderer is camped just outside of.)
* Vengard: Two Power of the Ancestors swords can be found in chests in the two-story houses near the two outdoor traders on the east side of town.
* Vengard: More magic weapons on racks, including a Heartstopper sword and a Rider's Blade, can be found in the paladin camp to the right of the western gate. (There are similar racks in the blacksmith shop that's NE of the temple, but they seem to be glitchy.)
* Vengard: There's a cutlass and a demon bow in a chest on the top floor of the large building that's directly east of the western gate.
* Vengard: The two chests on top of the guard tower that's a ways south of the castle contain a Master Sword and two Inquisitor swords. There's another Master Sword plus three more magic blades in the chest in the small room under the stairs that lead to the tower.
* Vengard: Three valuable crossbows (including Krash Morra) are in a chest on the castle courtyard's north wall, a valuable axe and the Royal Shield are in a chest in a room on the NE wall, and some magic swords and axes are in a chest in a room on the SE wall.
* Vengard: Several valuable weapons (including a Headsman's Sword) are in chests in the castle throne room. One chest also includes paladin armor. (There are also some good weapons on weapon racks.) When you're done in the throne room, go through its side door to find areas with more chests full of valuable stuff, including the King's Sword and Rhobar's Armor.
* Vengard: Go down the road that leads south from the SW gate until you come to a large stone and a pile of stones to the left of the road, each of which has a chest next to it. One of those chests contains a valuable Fire Robe.
