Half-Life Hints
What do I need to do to destroy the gargantua?
of 13: The main point of this level is to get electricity flowing back into the older sections of the Black Mesa complex.
of 13: As you enter the level, you are standing near a huge electrical generator. Once the electricity is on, you might find something that will allow you to deal with the gargantua.
of 13: This machine needs to be activated to get electricity flowing through the facilities. Unfortunately, no electricity is being generated.
of 13: Therefore, you need to first get the power generator online and fully operational. If you do not have the power generator up and running at full potential, read some of the other hints for this level before worrying about destroying the gargantua. It takes quite a bit of work before you have a shot at the gargantua.
of 13: Once the power generator is online, you will need to head back out into the main tunnels where the gargantua is.
of 13: One of the tunnels leads to a very peculiar place: the electrical coils of the power generator.
of 13: As you are leaving the hallway that leads down towards the track control room and the power generator, run into the tunnel immediately to your left.
of 13: Follow it along until it dead-ends at the large electrical coils of the power generator.
of 13: If you are lucky, the gargantua will not see you. Otherwise, run as fast as you can.
of 13: The power generator creates a very powerful beam of electricity between the two electrical coils that might come in handy when dealing with the gargantua.
of 13: Run straight to the dead-end (ignore the doors nearby for now) and up the stairs to the electrical coils' control panel. Pull the lever to get things started.
of 13: If the gargantua followed you, he should follow you straight through into the beam and be destroyed. Otherwise, you will need to lure him into your trap...
of 13: Be sure the electricity is on. Use the small nearby hallway to avoid the electrical beam. Run back out to wherever the gargantua is standing. Take a few shots at him or do whatever is necessary to get him to chase you. Run back into the tunnel with him chasing you. Run through the doors nearby (to avoid the electrical beam) and up onto the control platform. The gargantua will hopefully chase you and run right into the electrical beam.
