Half-Life Hints

Where is the crossing-barrier switch for the tunnel with two tracks?

  • 1 of 13: You will leave your one tram and hop off into a hallway filled with alien slaves. Kill them all.
  • 2 of 13: The hallway leads to a tunnel system that has two parallel tram tracks running lengthwise. You may have already been in this tunnel before while riding the other tram car. Anyhow, you need to take the tram car that is stationed on the far tracks.
  • 3 of 13: The route is blocked, however, by a crossing-barrier, and there is no apparent switch in sight.
  • 4 of 13: There is a command station on the second floor overlooking this tunnel area. You need to find the entrance to this place, though.
  • 5 of 13: The hallway that brought you to this place had a passageway that is blocked by some stacked military boxes.
  • 6 of 13: You might be able to clear the boxes if you "really" jump.
  • 7 of 13: I mean, conventional jumping won't do.
  • 8 of 13: Only crouch-jumping will get you over those boxes and onto the stairway that leads up.
  • 9 of 13: But do shoot the tripmines past the boxes from a safe distance first.
  • 10 of 13: Careful, though; you do not know what might be waiting up the stairs.
  • 11 of 13: Two soldiers stand ready at the top of the stairs. One is particularly dangerous, as he has a shotgun, which is much more powerful than the standard Mp5.
  • 12 of 13: Once the soldiers are gone, you can find your way to the control panel overlooking the tunnels. Pull the switch that is nearby to raise the crossing-barrier.
  • 13 of 13: Either jump down or find your way to your new tram car the way you came.
