Half-Life Hints

A monster just jumped out of the water and ate a scientist!

  • 1 of 8: The monster is known as an ichthyosaur and it is very dangerous.
  • 2 of 8: While it is swimming, take a few shots at it.You will see the frenzy it goes into.
  • 3 of 8: You will usually only find one ichthyosaur at a time, sometimes two.
  • 4 of 8: General weapons, at least the ones that work in water, will usually kill an ichthyosaur.
  • 5 of 8: Opt to use the crossbow when you get it on ichthyosaurs, since it takes only about two to three shots to kill it (at least on Easy difficulty).
  • 6 of 8: Otherwise, the ichthyosaur might have enough time to swim over to you. When he hits, you will not know which way is up or down until you are dead.
  • 7 of 8: It is probably a good idea not to hop into the water with them unless you have to.
  • 8 of 8: If you have lots of ammo and patience, you can shoot the things when they're visible on the surface until they go belly-up.
