How do I destroy the Apache?

  • 1 of 8: You will not be able to destroy the Apache until you reach the cliffside in the big outdoor edge-of-the-mountain segment of this chapter.
  • 2 of 8: Conventional weapons will work against the Apache, but they will also require huge amounts of ammo. You need something more powerful.
  • 3 of 8: How about a shoulder-mounted rocket launcher?
  • 4 of 8: Once you reach the cliffs and have somewhat navigated around them, you will find a storage garage that has some ammo and a rocket launcher.
  • 5 of 8: Grab the rocket launcher and head out of the storage garage. The Apache will appear off of your right.
  • 6 of 8: Use the laser-sight to target the helicopter and fire.
  • 7 of 8: Always keep the laser-sight trained on the Apache as the rocket will follow the laser-sight once it is launched. That way, if the helicopter moves off to the left, you can re-aim the rocket by aiming the laser at the helicopter again.
  • 8 of 8: Another way is to use the gauss gun's secondary fire mode to build up a maximum charge and release it at the helicopter. As with the rockets, you'll need more direct hits at higher difficulty levels to destroy the helicopter. The advantage of the gauss gun is that you can use it to destroy the 'copter (temporarily) before you get to the area with the RPG gun. This is most useful in the four-part outdoor area you get to once you leave the dam area.
