Half-Life Hints
How do I know where the mines are buried?
of 11: First and foremost, you will only find mines in areas marked with a "Mines" sign.
of 11: Secondly, the point of mines is that you cannot know where they are without triggering them.
of 11: So you need to trigger the mines to know that the area is clear.
of 11: Any of the weapons you are carrying will trigger the mines. Certain weapons are better than others.
of 11: The single-shot weapons are usually not a wise choice.
of 11: The Mp5 is a good choice for spraying the ground, but the ammunition goes very quickly.
of 11: Any type of explosive will work (grenades, Mp5 grenades, C4 detpacks), and will usually remove all mines in a small radius.
of 11: You might also want to try letting a few snarks run lose out in the mine field.
of 11: Or you could save your game and find the mines the hard way, then restore and avoid them. (Or use the Mp5 and then restore to save bullets.)
of 11: Keep in mind that mines are usually set where you either want to go or where you have to go.
of 11: For example, mines are set at the base of the entrance to the drainage hatch and more are set at the entrance of a nearby military tent.
