What are those long ropes hanging from the ceiling?
1 of 3: Those aren't ropes; they are tongues.
2 of 3: The aliens to whom the tongues belong are called barnacles. Their tongues hang down from the ceiling, hoping to latch onto unsuspecting prey. They draw their prey into their tooth-filled mouths which are mounted on the ceiling.
3 of 3: Avoid these aliens if possible. If you do get caught in one, switch to your crowbar and hit them square in the mouth. They will drop you almost immediately. Unfortunately, you will probably be injured by the fall (unless you land in the water).
