What is that blue laser that the scientist ran into?
1 of 4: The blue laser is part of a very powerful weapon called a tripmine. The tripmine is actually stuck to one side of the wall, but it shoots out a blue laser across to the other side.
2 of 4: When the blue laser beam is broken (i.e. walked through), the tripmine detonates.
3 of 4: Tripmines can be detonated from afar as well, by taking shots at the mine portion of the tripmine.
4 of 4: There are some places, like early on in this chapter, where you can jump over or duck under tripmines and then lure monsters back through them. No monster in the game is smart enough to duck under or jump over a tripmine.
