Half-Life 2: Episode One Hints
Section 2: Moving Through the Citadel (ep1_citadel_01)
1 of 20: Move along until you reach a platform with a big drop-off that Alyx comments on.
2 of 20: Look to the left to find some railing that you can jump over to get down to a lower floor.
3 of 20: Find the nearby corridor and take it to reach a room with a computer console and two standard blue energy force fields blocking further progress.
4 of 20: After Alyx determines that a stalker in the adjacent room is preventing her from lowering the force field next to the computer console, she'll notice that rollermines are being pushed along through large tubes nearby.
5 of 20: She'll lower the other force field and ask you to find where the rollermines are going. She apparently has a plan that requires one.
6 of 20: When Alyx says she can reprogram the rollermine, move up close to her so she can do so.
7 of 20: After it changes color, drop it so that it can go kill those pesky stalkers for you.
8 of 20: After it blows up and Alyx lowers the force field, go through the stalkers' room and on to a place where you can see another stalker on a raised platform to the left.
9 of 20: You don't have to do anything about this stalker, but you could stand and watch until it's destroyed by a bouncy energy orb, or kill it yourself.
10 of 20: Move along the main walkway until you reach a spot where you can see soldiers running along nearby. Fortunately, they'll all get killed by the Citadel's current unstable nature.
11 of 20: Duck under some debris to get to where their bodies are, but none of them left any weapons lying around for you to take, so don't waste your time looking for them. (You only get the gravity gun for the first two chapters of the game.)
12 of 20: Just past them is a corridor blocked with debris.
16 of 20: On the other side of the bridge, move along until you come to a room that looks a lot like the one that confiscated your weapons back in the original game. (Unfortunately, this one isn't working, and therefore can't soup up your gravity gun.)
17 of 20: When you come to a hopelessly debris-blocked spot, go back and take the side passage to get to a jumpable rail.
18 of 20: After Alyx plays a Breen-flashback recording, a freaky white pod thing will come up a nearby transport tube and some annoying but harmless mind-blast stuff will happen.
19 of 20: When that's over, Alyx will lower the force field on the other side of the room, allowing you to make it to a weapon confiscation room that still works.
