Half-Life 2: Episode One Hints
What's the best strategy for rocketing the strider?
1 of 6: The first thing to realize is that the other "walls" farther down the ledge aren't as protective as the metal one near the ladder since the strider can shoot through the gap in between the metal sheets.
2 of 6: You could crouch while behind one of those walls for better coverage, but the best position to rocket the strider from is behind the solid metal wall.
3 of 6: When the strider isn't firing, move out of cover just enough to get a rocket off at him, then duck back into cover the instant the rocket hits.
4 of 6: NOTE: The game is rigged so that the strider can't start firing right after you launch a rocket, but it will start firing right after the rocket hits.
5 of 6: When you run out of rockets, use the gravity gun to pull in the nearest loose rockets so you don't have to leave your good cover.
6 of 6: Hopefully, you can finish off the strider without having to make a run for the infinite rocket crate. If not, remember to crouch behind the metal-sheet walls for better cover while going for the crate.
