Half-Life 2: Episode One Hints
A Small Shortcut
1 of 7: It is possible to repower the containment machine without dropping down into its under-the-floor area at all.
2 of 7: If you crouch down next to the drop-off and move around a little, you should be able to easily get to where you can see two of the three orb generators that are down there.
3 of 7: That means you could grab orbs through the nearby broken window and fire them at those two generators without having to drop down.
4 of 7: TIP: It may be easier to fire the orbs at the floor so that they'll bounce into the generators, rather than firing directly at the generators.
5 of 7: But what about the third (rightmost) generator, you may wonder?
6 of 7: If you've ever dropped down, you'll probably have noticed that the third generator starts out with an orb, but the orb gets popped by the explosions that are rigged to happen after you drop down.
7 of 7: So as long as you don't drop down, that generator is powered, and you'll just need to fire orbs into the other two to fix the machine.
