A Note About the Hints
Each of the game chapters is divided up into two or more major sections. The sections don't have individual names like the chapters do, but you can always tell when you're moving from one section to another by the fact that the game will pause and the word "LOADING" will appear in the middle of the screen.
Each chapter's hints are divided up into sections accordingly. Since the sections don't have in-game names, I made up names for them that correspond to the major locations or themes of each area. For instance, the main goal of Chapter 1's first section is getting yourself and Alyx back into the Citadel, so I name that hint section "Section 1: Getting Back into the Citadel."
I also provide in parenthesis the map codes for each chapter section so that you can use the PC Cheat Codes' "status" command to help you find where you are. Bring down the console and type "status", then check the "map" field of the info you're given to find the current map code (plus exact XYZ coords, which aren't used in these hints). With the more recent game updates, you can just open the console and check the top right corner of the screen for the map code.
