Half-Life 2: Episode One Hints

First Control Room

  • 1 of 9: In the core entry area, your first task is to reactivate a couple of energy bridges.
  • 2 of 9: After crossing the second bridge, look in the nearby glassed-in area for a pulsing red switch that you can use.
  • 3 of 9: This will rearrange the energy bridges so that you can use them to get to the central shaft structure.
  • 4 of 9: Find the ladder on one side of the shaft and climb it to the top.
  • 5 of 9: Go across the energy bridge up there and look for a dark passageway next to where there's a loose panel cover leaning against the wall.
  • 6 of 9: That passageway leads to the first control room, which is full of soldiers.
  • 7 of 9: After the room is cleared, look around for a way to activate the containment machine.
  • 8 of 9: After the containment machine rises up and plugs itself in, more soldiers and manhacks will appear.
  • 9 of 9: The Combine door that's near the recharger in the control room is now open, so go through it and move down the corridor to start on your journey to the second control room.
