Combine Attack Tips
1 of 16: The first soldier will blow throw the door next to the walkway that's on the opposite side of the barn from the advisor chamber.
2 of 16: Either have a barrel ready to throw at him with the gravity gun, or hide around the corner on the lower floor and let Alyx shoot him.
3 of 16: Go through the doorway and grab the crossbow, then bust the supply crate to find some more crossbow ammo.
4 of 16: Past that is the hallway you came in on, and it's the way more soldiers will be coming.
5 of 16: That is, unless you "thought ahead" and barricaded the hallway near its entry point with barrels, crates, and the other junk lying about before going after the advisor.
6 of 16: If you did that, you can get behind Alyx and nudge her ahead of you until she gets to where she can shoot the soldiers who are stuck at your barricade. (If you didn't do a barricade, you can still try to nudge her ahead of you to take the brunt of the attack.)
7 of 16: She'll often run back toward you for cover, and you'll have to nudge her ahead again. This can be a bit of a pain, but she should be able to kill all of the soldiers who approach the barricade without you getting injured at all.
8 of 16: When soldiers stop appearing at the barricade, run toward it to see if you can get more to appear. If so, quickly run back for cover while Alyx starts in on them.
9 of 16: There'll be a few soldiers who stubbornly stay inside the house across the street and shoot at you through its window, doorway, and/or roof hole.
10 of 16: You can try to get Alyx to see and shoot them, or you can pop them with the pistol from behind your barricade.
11 of 16: Depending on where you set up your barricade, you may need to push it forward a bit in order to shoot these last few soldiers.
12 of 16: When you go outside through the barn's doorway or big wall hole, a hunter will appear near the house, so don't do that until you're sure all the soldiers are dead.
13 of 16: The hunter will come around the left side of the house, so be ready to hit it with a couple of .357 slugs before you duck into cover back in the barn.
14 of 16: If you run back to the barn's back hallway (past the formerly padlocked door), the hunter probably won't follow you, but will duck in and out of sight near the barn entrance. You can use that to your advantage by shooting it with the pistol and .357 when it's in sight.
15 of 16: When the hunter's nearly dead, pause in your battle with it to go back to the under-the-floor area in the barn and pick up any health kits and armor batteries that you can use.
16 of 16: Then go finish off the hunter, preferably after moving close to the muscle car.
