2 of 5: You can avoid a bit of damage to yourself by starting to back up the instant the attack begins.
3 of 5: Then wait for a vortigaunt to show up and blast away the rubble holding you prisoner.
4 of 5: Move forward and wait some more as the vortigaunt makes weird noises.
5 of 5: He'll then pick Alyx up with the intention of carrying her to where she can be healed.
